I tried this on 3 different Win2k3 servers. Whenever I try creating a publishing page, I receive an unexpected error. Also, an unknown error on "Test sitemap provider". Here's the ULS and stack trace:

Did you use CS.NET website at root site collection or sub-site? You should NOT use /sites extension.

Thank you, Tommy. That did the trick. I appreciate the instant response.

Tommy

Having installed and running sucessfully by publishing some pages, I find that the features are neat. However I have some glitches. Am I doing something wrong again?

1. I can only see the pages if I access the site using hostname. Adding a DNS entry would not work. Cannot access using IP address either. Says "File not found", in spite of giving the exact path to each page.

2. The content metadata info (version, status, meta keywords, etc) on each page is visible to end users even after publishing. I tried playing with the content types by making that data hidden. No luck :(

Thanks & Regards

1. You have to configure alternate access mapping.

2. Allow anonymous on both Sharepoint and IIS and you'll be fine. The metadata , version etc are only hidden for anonymous users.

Works perfect. Thanks a ton, Tommy.

Is there a place where I can find such "beginner" instructions without having to bother you? Your website or blog? The developer guide dives deep into advanced customization.

Hi mate,

The questions you ask were Sharepoint general and not so much CS.NET specific.

Therefore I suggest you purchase a beginner SharePoint book to begin with. There are lots out there I just can't recommend you which one since I've never purchased such a book. The easiest way to learn SP is by attending a course but it can be pricey.

Cheers,

Tommy
